You’ve

the ‘immediacy’ of your analogue mixer.

way of making complicated digital technology easily
accessible, introduce the VM200 - the digital mixing
console which makes complete nonsense of the notion that
if it’s digital, it must be difficult to use.
The VM200 combines the best of both worlds - the
spontaneity and intuitive operation of an analogue mixer
and the unquestioned sonic performance and flexibility of
digital.
Plus, you get moving faders, instant recall of all
settings and two A.S.P. digital effect processors to boot.
32-BIT QUALITY
Mix with a VM200 and you know your audio is being
processed at the highest quality because Fostex not only
fit this mixer with its own, dedicated high-speed 32-bit
RISC CPU, but also ensure noise is kept to an absolute
minimum by always transferring signals balanced between
the analogue and digital circuits.
And when in the digital domain, all data is processed by
that 32-bit CPU at the industry standard sampling rate of
44.1kHz - that’s pure CD quality.
Yet all this digital wizardry means nothing if the
analogue inputs aren’t up to scratch. (You know the
saying, “garbage in, garbage out...”). That’s why
Fostex have fitted the VM200 with top quality phantom
powered XLR mic preamps with a wide-gain range.
Analogue to digital conversion is taken care of via
state-of-the-art 20-bit 64x oversampling Delta/Sigma
units, while the conversion back to analogue is via 128x
oversampling Delta/Sigma units. - You can’t get better.
EASY OPERATION
Unlike other digital mixers, the VM200 mimics a
conventional console in many ways giving you
instant-access to often-used features without resorting to
complicated recall operations.
For example, each channel has a dedicated rotary pan
control whilst a channel’s entire EQ can be accessed via
12 rotary controls with interactive graphic on-screen
representation of EQ patterns.
Plus, functions such as analogue input level, ADAT In,
Effects Return, Effect Send, Aux Send etc. can all be
recalled on 60mm moving faders.
JUTS ADD A DIGITAL MULTITRACK
Unlike most other ‘affordable’ digital mixers, a VM200
requires no additional boxes, expensive options or add-ons
for interfacing to digital multitracks.
DIGITAL INTERFACES
ADAT optical I/O is fitted as standard allowing you to
record and mix 8 tracks totally in the digital domain to a
suitable digital multitrack such as a VR800 or D-108*.
And, Word I/O is present - ideal for making those secured
digital transfers.
There’s also an optical S/P-DIF I/O stereo interface for
digital mastering to DAT, CD-R etc.
No, the VM200 is ready ‘right out of the box’ to do
the job in hand.
Other nice touches which you’ll appreciate include;
large illuminated buttons and a 256 x 64 dot backlit LCD
display, a dedicated stereo / solo level meter, insert
points on channels 1-4 for adding external effects,
complete MIDI control over every function and the ability
to store 100 complete console set-ups for stress-free
mixing.
